Disguise / déguisement

Trying to hit two trees with one stone here… did this for IF and for Collage Obsession challenge! Nice theme. This week while shopping for some shoes for my boy, we met a buffalo man. For sure he was in disguise (cause he looked like a man). He was so angry, it was impossible not to hear him yell at his kid, even when he was on the other aisle. I always feel strange and nervous when I am in the same room as someone with that much rage inside. Bad energy circling around is never fun to experience. And since they were also shopping for shoes, they were tough to avoid. What puzzled me was that his kid was actually behaving quite well, trying some shoes on (but not fast enough for his father). So the buffalo man kept yelling.

disguise Lowres Disguise / déguisementSo much rage… I had problems focusing on what we were there for… finding shoes. Maybe he was lacking sleep or maybe it’s just his normal way of being.  So here is the Buffalo man, without his disguise. He is holding an armadillo. I wanted to represent the child as a different creature, a colorful one, but also wanted him to have a good shell for protection.  The colors I choosed are actually meant to be 2:1 for blue and orange, that was a combination offered on the Collage Obsession website. Not sure I have the exact proportions but I did try. Take care, of yourself and of all your armadillo’s!

Bref je me devait d’illustrer l’homme-bison. Sans son déguisement. Il tient dans ses mains un “tatou“. Ma facon de donner une armure, une méga protection à l’enfant. Bonne journée et prenez bien soins de vos petits “tatous”!

In this case the rather “hard” colors accompany your story very wel. I think you chose also perfect buffalo head he looks contemptuously and directly in our eyes : “Do you have any problems?”
    Well done !

I always feel that collages like yours bring a feeling of uncertainty, like things don’t really belong to the same world. Perfect for your story. And – an armadillo!!! Great piece.

Thank you artisjokken, true, he looks on the edge.. had to change the eyes, actually, as the original ones were barely noticable. These are fish eyes from another old print I have found… hehehe I know, weird.

Greendeer, thanks for your comment! True, it does leave a lot for the viewer to figure out. And that’s one thing I sort of like about digital collage too: leave it to the viewer to make their own story (even if I often provide mine hehe). Btw I hope it’s ok, I edited your msg as you first wrote: … like things don’t really belong to the same qorld… but since the Q is just beside the W… I figured you meant _world_… hope I hot that right. :)

Totally agree with greendeer. You always manage to create a strange atmosphere in your images.. bringing to life magical worlds and characters. Btw, those animated gifs are gorgeous, the maximum!! Well, and this one is so.. strange, great!! ..and the color choice is perfect ;)

Sad story. It’s interesting how you interpreted your experience in collage.

This is so cool. I LOVE it. The colors are rad!

We have Buffalo in this part of the country. I’ve always thought that ideas are like storming buffalo, running past all big and obvious and easy to capture but soon getting smaller against the horizon until they are gone and impossible to remember.

Thats why I write down ideas on my phone as soon as they occur to me (or sooner!).

Public anger is scary. I wonder what he is like when nobody is looking!
