Greed – Avarice

Ok so here is yet another of the deadly sins (yes, I WILL do the 7!! eventually).  It was fun doing this one too… thanks to Rick from the Collage Obsession challenge again!! I really enjoy doing these. I must admit that this sin is not an easy one to illustrate… but then I figured that even in a circus/carnival, there could be someone very greedy (is he the manager? Maybe), someone who wants to keep it all to himself. Greed animation low Greed AvariceAt first I wanted to have him surrounded with money… but with the recent news about the stock market, I figured he would actually be a lot richer with gold!!! Is it me or it seems that greed is often seen when people have a LOT of money? Strangely I think that it’s people who have “just enough money” that are the most generous. Probably they experienced that the more you give, the more you receive. And they are also the ones that looks the happier. Additional note… had to animate this a bit so his golden tooth would stand out… hehehe.

Oh, Isabelle, I really love this one!! It’s a surprise to see his gold tooth blink, when he shows his grin. I love the old vaudeville style. great job!

Yes, I agree! That gold tooth adds an amazing & fun touch to your wonderful creation. It’s also great to know the thoughts that were going through your head as you created this. He’s sitting on his gold, and he’s not going to share it with anyone. I love the curtains as well…it adds to the carnival/circus idea. Thank you for sharing this with us!

There’s a wonderfully hyper-realistic quality about this, like something by Dali. Very, very, nice indeed! (And I LOVE the rat!)

Thank you sooo much for all your comments! Nelleke, yeah that was a last minute thing, the flashing gold tooth… I had finished and it was even loaded on the site when I had that idea… hehehe, had to do it!.. thank you Tiffany (x 2 since you left two comments hehe) Francis, you are right, there is something about that guy that really is close to the look of “Brother Justin” in Carnivale. Wish they would make a 3rd season!! Dian, thank you so much for the comment, yes, there is something of a hyper-realistic look to it… watch out for the Dali compliment, I could be stroke by another sin: pride!

Hey what a wonderful illustration of greed. You have hit the head of the nail. It actually looks like our lord mayor where I live – he is a twit I think :) I love your character – your work is very inspiring. The gold tooth is a good touch

Thank you Andrew, Steve, Barbara, Nina for your comments! I actually cant wait to do another sin (that sentence looks a bit strange when it’s out of context but hey, you know what I mean hehehe)

This is just brilliant! Oh, that tooth! And both of his smiles– they just radiate smug self-satisfaction. And the rat, pinned down by that casually ruthless foot. *shiver*

Your whole sin series is genius. I can’t wait for you to sin again! ;-)
