Scattered pride – Orgueil

Prride Orgueil animation Scattered pride OrgueilThis is so like me: trying to do numerous challenge at the same time! haha… but these were all inspiring words/concepts. First of, for Illustration Friday: scattered. Definition: To cause to separate and go in different directions. Second of all: I must admit I miss doing the 7 deadly sins, so I did Pride. And thirdly… I felt  it actually fitted very well the Collage Obsession Challenge of the week: Alter Egos. You see how torn I was, having to choose in between all these great subjects?? Only have so much time to illustrate in a week!! hehehe… so I hope you like my mix-match of challenges. Pride is a strange thing, personally I don’t think it’s such a bad sin… but then again maybe if those tentacles grabs you…it can be possible to loose yourself in the projection of this boosted pride alter ego.

———–

This is a beautiful image even if it is an altered ego of Pride. Bravo

    Ah fantastic.

I’ve known a girl such as this. Wrapping her many tentacles around multiple boys.

I think Pride is one of those things like Television or Internet or a Hammer. It can be useful and destructive relative to how it is employed.

Ayn Rand’s ideas about the aggrandizement of the self seem to give her protagonists the ability to overcome trials and obstacles, such as is the case with the fictional Howard Roarke. Then there is Peter Keating, from the same novel, whose pride causes him to take on a role he cannot fulfill, marry a girl he does not love, and ultimately fail.

Each character exhibits a kind of pride.

Just like one person can use a hammer to build and another to break.

Pride is an investment. If a person invests pride in their children, their abilities, their accomplishments, maybe this is not so bad. It is when Pride blinds a person that it becomes bad. Pride in materialism can blind a person to the needs of those around him, but Pride in doing a good job can make him put forth extra effort in a task.

I suppose, like design, the sin lies in the placement or improper placement of a thing.

    Sorry for the uber-long post.

Amazing, how you interpretated multiple challenges in one collage. :) I like it a lot.

I think there are some gradations in pride and it has not to be such a bad sin, as you wrote.
Pride is the consciousness of ours own dignity……
But now, it is about your illustration. And this one is good. I like the winking eye detail!!!
Adding tentacles… very clever!!! Really very good!!!

Wow… tremendous (and great) response to this illustration!! Happy!! (I am!!) All of your comments are sooo great!! Yes… I completely agree atiskokken, and Rubin… Pride really can go on different direction, can be useful as it can be destructive. It’s really really nice to have such good feedback from such great artists.

Thank you Eric! Fun to do small animated part… I only do this when I feel it can add something to the illustration.
