This week’s theme on IF is Lonely. I immediately taught about my grand-mother. She have always felt lonely, for as long as I can remember. She is not a reader, not a knitter, not a painter. I often feel sad for her… I mean, there is so much things she could still do, if she had a hobby… but she is not interested. I often wonder how she was when she was a child, if she was already lonely. Could be. So here is my illustration for this week! Hope you like it!

i really like your approach to “lonely”, i know an old lady like your grandma, too.
beautiful work! Definitely a lonely feeling.
Ah, a sad story about your grandmother, you touch my heart because it reminds my own mother. Excellent illustration!
Thank you Roberto, Tanja and CB… glad this illustration touched you, it means I was able to capture the “loneliness”, not an easy feeling to represent. It is quite a sad sentiment, specially when these people are close to us. It is strange because I have so many hobbies and project and things I love to do by myself, that I never get lonely… I hope to stay this way when I get older, hope to still have some passions and all. My grand-mother is quite lucky in a way, her two son are taking so good care of her, always in contact by phone or spending time visiting her… but of course they can not always be there, so she get’s lonely the minute they leave. It’s sad… but in a way, it probably is in her mindset because I have other exemple of older people around me who are always busy doing things (reading, gardening, cooking, wood working), even as they are getting quite old.
So wonderfully portrayed … I think perhaps your grandma may have been as you depict … these traits follow you.
aaaaah, definitely lonely, she’s waiting till her time comes…
I like how you’ve put the little lonely girl on a ‘think’ cloud.
Let’s stay busy till the end!!
