Just did this quick owl collage illustration for the week theme on Collage Obsession. I love owl. I love teachers too. I think good teachers are precious, just like seeing a owl. —— Juste une petite illustration de hibou pour Collage obsession. Je pense que les bons profs sont précieux, tout comme voir un hibou. O pour hibou? Non, pas vraiment. Y a des choses qui ne se traduisent juste pas.
What is imagination really? Maybe it’s just the little brother of Miss Creativity? I don’t know about you, but for me, this phrase by Einstein resonate: “Imagination is more important then knowledge“. No need to be a super eccentric individual to be imaginative (or to believe in unicorns, for that matter) … but to be able to imagine a different world and extraordinary things; is a bit like adding color to an otherwise very grey world.
L’imagination, qu’est-ce que c’est, au juste? Peut-être est-ce juste le petit frère de Mam’zelle Créativitée? Je ne sais pas pour vous, mais pour moi, il y a une phrase d’Einstein qui m’interpelle vraiment: “L’imagination est plus importante que la connaissance“. Pas besoin d’être un individu super excentrique (ou même de croire aux licornes) … mais juste le fait d’ être en mesure d’imaginer un monde différent, et des choses extraordinaires; c’est un peu comme ajouter de la couleur à un monde quelquefois un peu trop… gris.
It’s that time of year again: school’s almost out … summer vacations are so close (Yeah!!) I am betting even the teachers are happy! hehehe… and why not? They are working so hard, all year long… have to say thank you!! I am giving the usual bookmark illustration I now make (it’s kind of a tradition now I guess hehehe). I did this illustration for them… with some inspiration from the IF of last week (yes, Friday already!!)… theme was “Hurry!” hehehe… yes, and I did not hurry enough!
Also, for the Collage Obsession challenge, the theme was “Spiral”… so I had to put a twirly little thing somewhere. I am happy with the result, I think we live in such a fast-crazy time… it’s a good reminder of the importance of slowing down… maybe read a book in the meantime, too? hehe… well happy summer vacation to all the parents, teachers, and happy kids!!

Les vacances arrivent bientôt!! Les élèves doivent être contents… et les profs aussi!! Je récidive avec mon signet comme cadeau de fin d’année pour eux, encore une fois!! C’est maintenant une tradition on dirait. Je me suis inspiré des thèmes de cette semaine sur deux sites différents: sur Illustration Friday, le thème de la semaine était “Hurry!” … “Dépèchez-vous!”… ouais, et c’est déjà terminé haha… pas grave. J’ai aussi eu l’idée d’insérer une spirale, car c’est le thème du Collage Obsession Challenge de cette semaine.
Je trouve chouette l’idée de prendre le temps… on est tellement dans le tourbillon de la vie, qu’on oublie que l’important ce n’est pas d’aller rapidement, mais juste d’avancer… tranquillement, et de profiter un peu, beaucoup… de la vie et du temps présent. Bonnes vacances à tous!! Profs, élèves, parents etc etc…!!!
It had been a while since I had done a deck card… sometimes opportunities just happen to be right on the corner… so when I did a quick check on the Collage Obsession challenge, I saw that the theme for this week was “The Sun”!! Yeah!!! So here is my deck card for this very fun fortune card… in French: Le Soleil.

Je me disais justement que vraiment, il y avait longtemps que je n’avais pas fait de cartes de tarot… j’imagine que le hasard n’existe pas (ou si peu?), car sur le site de Collage Obsession challenge, le thème est justement le Soleil!! Vraiment contente… voici donc ma carte de tarot pour cette arcane que j’aime beaucoup. Je vous souhaite donc une semaine lumineuse, avec soleil à profusion !!
Making decisions is not always easy… (for me anyway). We hear a lot of different opinions, from many people around us. On the forums, on social media’s… in real life. Sometimes it is difficult to find our own path, to make our own decision. Should I listen to that little bird on the right, or the one on the left. Is it really my decision? Or the decision of every one else around me. So this was my starting point for this illustration… questions! hehe..
I know, I am weird. The word of the week for IF is “Yield”, and I have found many definitions for this word. I choose “to give in, to surrender”. I think at one point we have to listen to our inner voice and not worry about the direction others want us to take. Oh and if you are wondering about the leaves… it is the theme for Collage Obsession and I tried to do a 2 for 1, again… this week. ———–
C’est étrange.. on entend tellement de choses différentes, de tellement de gens différents, qu’on finit par avoir un peu de misère à se faire nos propres idées, sur une multitudes de sujets. Pas facile de décider de la direction à prendre… on conseille d’aller à gauche, d’autres disent à droite. Et moi… ou je veux aller, vraiment? Qui j’écoute, finallement?
Le sujet pour IF de cette semaine est “yield”. Je sais pas trop comment traduire, mais c’est un peu comme lâcher prise. Et c’est toujours une bonne chose, éventuellement. Si vous vous demandez pourquoi les feuilles, j’ai aussi fait un deux pour un cette semaine, car Collage Obsession avait proposé ce thème.
Ok, I love challenges… plus I admit that my time is quite limited these days… so I figured: theme for IF this week: Suspense. Theme for Collage Obsession: Tangerine tango (the color). Sure, I can do it, can squeeze those two themes into one, right? But wait… here is another part of the challenge I just had to incorporate : the ambiance of a game I just looove: Skyrim. I really really enjoy this game. The scenery is amazing, the textures and colors unbelievable… plus the fact that you can personalize your character… so of course she looks a bit like my character… orange tangerine hair… fierce eyes. She means business…. and the wolf… well they always attack us out of the nowhere, so this is always a suspense, but a good one. Hope you like this illo! Have a great week!!

Bon, pas beaucoup de temps cette semaine alors, pourquoi pas faire un deux pour un et y aller avec le challenge d‘Illustration Friday (Suspense) et ajouter celui de Collage Obsession (Tangerine Tango, la couleur) .. mais histoire de rendre ca vraiment plus intéressant, je voulais aussi y aller de mon propre thème, le jeu Skyrim, un jeu sur PS3 que j’adore, un peu à la donjons et dragons, avec des graphiques incroyables, des textures pas possible mais aussi (surtout?) qu’il est possible de se créer un personnage unique (et fille!) …génial, non?!! Bref, ma “warrior” a les cheveux orange tangerine! Et le suspense ne manque pas dans ce jeu, surtout quand les loups rôdent, le soir venu. Un bon suspense, quoi!!

Je suis passé sur le site du Collage Obsession Challenge et … la belle surprise: mon scientifique favorit: le seul, l’unique Albert Einstein. Un scientifique cool, c’est rare, non? (mais j’avoue que je n’en connais pas beaucoup !) Et en cherchant un peu, j’ai trouvé une citation (il en a écrit plusieurs!) que j’aimais beaucoup et qui m’a inspiré cette illustration. J’espère que vous aimerez, et si oui.. ca tombe vraiment bien car j’en ai fait quelques fonds d’écran ! Oui oui, gratuit!! Juste pour le plaisir de partager ! En allant par ici (ou directement sur le lien en haut nommé “Wallpapers”). Je vous souhaite une superbe semaine… pleine de mouvement.
This is so like me: trying to do numerous challenge at the same time! haha… but these were all inspiring words/concepts. First of, for Illustration Friday: scattered. Definition: To cause to separate and go in different directions. Second of all: I must admit I miss doing the 7 deadly sins, so I did Pride. And thirdly… I felt it actually fitted very well the Collage Obsession Challenge of the week: Alter Egos. You see how torn I was, having to choose in between all these great subjects?? Only have so much time to illustrate in a week!! hehehe… so I hope you like my mix-match of challenges. Pride is a strange thing, personally I don’t think it’s such a bad sin… but then again maybe if those tentacles grabs you…it can be possible to loose yourself in the projection of this boosted pride alter ego.

C’est vraiment mon genre… faire plusieurs challenges en même temps!! Y avait juste trop de bons thèmes cette semaine intéressants Bref, voici mon illustration multi-thème: Pour Illustration Friday: scattered (dispersé, éparpillé), mais aussi parce que j’ennuyais des 7 péchés capitaux, j’ai fait l’orgueil. Et bon, sur Collage Obsession Challenge le thème de cette semaine est: Alter Egos. Y a quand même un petit lien ici… non? Bref, j’ai eu beaucoup de plaisir a faire cette illustration. J’ai gardé le style carnavalesque de mes autres “péchés”. Au fait, il y a une petite animation… ca passe vite, il faut être vigilent!!
Just a fun (quick) illustration I did with the theme of the Collage Obsession Challenge of the week being Sepia + pastel color wheel. Also I added a card texture to the back as if it was a birthday card (would’nt that be cool as a real one? I think so too). And when it got finished I just had that “Show your true colors” pop into my mind, so I wrote it. I also got inspired by the (great) blog of Itkupilli, specially when I saw that she posted some of the pics she used to do her collage-art… what a cool idea!!
So the challenge was to use the pastel palette provided … and (as I understood it anyway hehe) the sepia tones. I decided to use the palette in the umbrella. I am posting (almost) all of the pictures I used. The main photo (girl with the umbrella) is from The Commons (Flickr)… all of them are public domain pics from my “old pics vault”. The skeleton bird is also public domain, and was found on Wiki.
Maybe it’s the fact that she is wearing a mask, or that she is actually aware that she is “different”, and loving it? Who knows… One thing is for sure, it was fun to collage this.

Une illustration fait rapidement pour le site Collage Obsession Challenge. J’ai aussi posté quelques unes des photos utilisées pour mon collage… inspiré par le blog de Itkupilli et je trouvais l’idée génial. La photo de base (la femme au parapluie) a été prise sur Flickr, dans la section “The Commons”, donc libre de droits. Toutes les autres sont de vieilles photos dans le domaine publique. Le squelette du petit oiseau arrive de Wiki… lui aussi est du domaine publique même si il a été re-travaillé et qu’il a maintenant une tête (!). Je trouve important de m’assurer de tout ca avant de faire mes collages digitales.
La phrase “Show your true colors” m’a semblé judicieuse pour cette image… je ne sais pas si c’est à cause du masque (style femme-chat) ou si c’est simplement que la fille semble tout à fait en paix avec ce qui l’entoure… mais bref, j’ai aimé faire ce collage digital.
Here is another one for the Seven Deadly Sins - Sloth ! Strangely it also works pretty well with the Illustration Friday theme: Mysterious. I am trying to stick to a carnival feel for this deadly sins illustrations, so it’s a triple challenge for me. I figured… what could represent sloth more then a clown falling asleep while the show is going on.
Then came the idea of collaging his friend on the background, mad at him for being such a sloth. Of course the water bucket is a must whenever clowns are involve, right? So the mystery is probably… will he trow it?

Voici une autre illustration pour les septs péchés capitaux: La paresse. Merci à Rick de Collage obsession Challenge pour ce quatrième “péché”! J’aime beaucoup illustrer cette série, c’est tout un challenge car je fais mon (gros) possible pour faire du même coup le thème d’Illustration Friday, qui est mysterious / “mistère” cette semaine.
J’ai pensé qu’il serait rigolo d’illustrer ce péché par un clown trop paresseux qui s’est endormi juste avant le spectacle. Puis j’ai pensé faire son acolyte, un peu découragé, histoire de mettre un peu d’action. La question étant… est-ce qu’il va lui envoyer son seau d’eau à la figure? À suivre j’imagine … et de là arrive le mystère.
